Kathmandu University (KU) is AN freelance non-government, public establishment. it's the third oldest university in Kingdom of Nepal, set in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok District, regarding thirty kilometer east of Kathmandu. Unq was established in 1991 with the shibboleth "Quality Education for Leadership". This university operates through its six faculties and from premises in Dhulikhel,Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
The university provides undergrad and postgraduate programs within the fields of engineering, science, management, arts, education,law and medical sciences. It provides undergrad courses in engineering (civil,computer, electrical & natural philosophy, mechanical and environmental), science (Biotechnology,environmental science, pharmacy, human biology & applied physics), management (Bachelors in Business Administration), arts (music, media, community development, fine art, and economics). Graduate courses in science, engineering, pharmacy, development and business administration also are offered.


History

As a precursor to the institution of a University, a team dedicated folks 1st established Kathmandu vale field in 1985 to supply education in Intermediate of Science (ISc). an equivalent team planned the institution of Kathmandu University. when thorough discussion on the proposal within the Parliament, Kathmandu University was granted by AN Act of Parliament on Gregorian calendar month eleven, 1991.

The university, in partnership with Rangjung Yeshe Institute, runs the Centre for Buddhist Studies. The centre offers undergrad and graduate programs resulting in Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Buddhist Studies and mountain chain languages. It provides analysis facilities for visiting international students of Buddhism for his or her graduate or postgraduate comes.[7] within the summer, it hosts study-abroad programs and conducts intensive language immersion programs in Tibetan, Nepali, and Indic
The university owns Kathmandu University highschool.
Except for the college of Education and college of Management, the faculties operate from the university's premises at Dhulikhel. Four batches of scholars have completed their Master in Business Administration programs from the college of Management. the primary convocation of the university was stayed seven August 1995 and also the convocation address was given by management guru, Dr. M.B. Atreya of India. The second convocation was stayed eight Gregorian calendar month 1996 and also the convocation address was delivered by academician N. Gyanam, decision maker, Pondicherry University and also the President of Association of Indian Universities. The third convocation was stayed nine November 1997 and also the convocation address was delivered by academician (Dr.) M. Rammohan Rao, director, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India. The fourth convocation, stayed seventeen Gregorian calendar month 1998, was self-addressed by the outstanding scholar and ex-vice chancellor of Norwegian Institute of Technology, Norway.
